The Difference on Energy

A couple days ago I expressed my disappointment with Barack's willingness to consider offshore drilling. I still think its the wrong call but upon further reading it does appear to be more of a nuanced concession contingent upon the development of a comprehensive energy plan. McCain on the other hand has made the same concession - and has actually become an ardent supporter of offshore drilling - but I have yet to see any sense that he has a plan for the future of this country's energy problems. Just compare...

Now watch an overview of Obama's speech on energy found today on Huffington Post (sorry I couldn't embed the video).

Now, I am sure there are videos out there that show Obama whole-heartedly rejecting offshore drilling. So is this a shift? Probably. But anyone who can maneuver himself around two Clintons has to be politically deft.

So while I am not thrilled with Obama's recent tepid acceptance of offshore drilling, at least the man has a vision for where we should be heading. Obama is a politician. But I'll take a politician who I disagree with on the specifics over a politician who has no vision any day.
